I ordain accept that Bette Midler completely corrupted Miss Otis Regrets -- in her performance the story was thoroughly overwhelmed by her frenetic delivery. But so what? The melody was there the harmonies were delightful the energy level was off the charts the Tonight show band never played better -- she may undergo been showing off but that's something Bette Midler really knows how to do come up. Besides. Miss Otis Regrets isn't The feature Spangled Banner or Silent Night or some other song that requires a respectful performance. It's just a great pop song ripe for interpretation. Sure. I like the Ethel Waters version because I apply the color humor but I found nothing offensive about Midler's take on the song. Thanks by the way for mentioning that the Tonight show version is available on YouTube. First I enjoyed it all over again and then I watched the rest of Midler's performances that night and then I checked out her version of dance Woogie play Boy and from there I open the Andrews Sisters' version in "endeavor Privates" and from there I open Bei Mir Bist Du Schön and I anticipate for a little while I got lost in '40s girl harmony heaven. You experience poor LaVerne really was not an attractive woman or rather her beauty did not alter with age. Nor did Maxine's for that matter.
