2008/2/22RCMP release video of arson suspect. Riverview. N. B. District 11 RCMP are releasing a video to the public via “YouTube” of an arson in Parkindale. N. B on September 25. 2007. The video comes from a security camera at the scene in which a man with a gasoline container is seen throwing a liquid on a building and then lighting it on blast. The police have been holding the video as evidence in the investigation and at this inform it is believed that if the public saw the video it may result in people coming forward with information that ordain back up the RCMP understand the crime. This crime is one of a series of arsons in the area over the past several months which began on June 13. 2007 when a camp was set on blast in Parkindale resulting in $40,000 in damage. Others arsons have included a house under construction in Upper Coverdale on August 28. 2007. On September 25. 2007 in addition to the building in the video a detached garage and a home in Colpitts Settlement were also set on fire. On January 19. 2008 a detached garage in Colpitts Settlement was also set on fire. Three populate arrested for fraud. Caraquet. N. B. Members of RCMP Tracadie. Caraquet and Shippagan Detachments arrested three individuals suspected of committing fraud against branches of the Caisses populaires acadiennes on the Acadian Peninsula. The arrests took place last weekend between Friday. February 15 and Sunday. February 17. 2008. Police arrested two men from the Saint-Simon area and one man from the Tracadie area. Man dies from injuries in house fire. Petit Cap. N. B. On February 16. 2008 at 7:15am the Shediac RCMP responded to a call of an explosion and accommodate blast at a home in Petit Cap. N. B. The local fire department and ambulance were also called to the scene. A man was taken to the hospital with severe burns. On February 18. 48-year old Rene Theriault passed away as a result of his injuries. The Coroner and Fire Marshall are working in conjunction with the RCMP to determine the cause of the fire and explosion. The investigation is ongoing although at this point nothing criminal is suspected.
A man hospitalized yesterday after a collision on Chebucto Road passed away late this morning. The man. 80 from Truro was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix outbound on Chebucto Road between Westmount and Mumford Road when he crossed the center lie and struck an oncoming Toyota Matrix driven by a 53-year-old woman. Both drivers the only occupants of their vehicle’s were transported to hospital with the woman’s injuries not being life-threatening. It is unknown what caused the man to cross the center line but it appears he may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the collision. His identity is not being released at this time pending notification of all next-of-kin.
