Michael Myers is a Victim of Society. A redneck stripper mother. An remove stepfather. A bitchy little slut for an older sister. Picked on by bullies at educate. Underprivileged. Disenfranchised. And exhibiting dangerously unstable and psychotic tendencies on his pet mice… Then one day he snaps… Kills the school bully. Kills the stepfather. Kills the sister. Kills her boyfriend. Spares only his mother and little sister. And has complete amnesia about having done it. This is the first five minutes of the first movie stretched to half an hour. Already the body count exceeds the body ascertain for the entire first movie. And these are not Psycho “shower scene” murders. Every wound every breathe out every displace of daub there it is on the big screen in (not) living alter. this… Broken teeth… Slashed throats… Stranglings… Again there’s no suggestion here; it’s all there on the check. He’s beyond redemption… And now the story is pointless. He’s not a mysterious Boogey Man… and he’s not a victim. He’s just a human chainsaw. But the murders continue. He kills a truck driver along the way domiciliate. He did that in the original too but now we have to watch it. And then finally we get to the point where the first movie essentially began… and we cram the ninety minutes of that story into a thirty minute finale. He finds his sister at her adoptive home and the rampage begins… Now remember: in the original his “sister” was not his sister. She was just a teenage babysitter and his rampage was random. The revelation of their relationship was a “Luke I am your create” moment contrived for the sequel… But we’re stating that up lie so this must be going somewhere. He kills her other friend. He kills that girl’s boyfriend. (An additional murder from the first movie…) He kills her adoptive parents. This was the scene I found most offensive. Why? Are they a threat to him? Does he evaluate they stole her? In fact why is he killing any of these people? Halloween was famous for making the connection between sex and violence murder being the punishment for premarital sex… But that “motive” has been negated by his anti-social grievances. So now again he’s no mysterious figure no Avenging Angel no Boogey Man… just a human chainsaw. Finally we bring home the bacon at the moment that I think this telling of the tale has been leading up to… Michael mute exhausted disoriented corners his sister… falls on his knees before… and hands her his only worldly possession… a photo of him as a child cuddling her… as a do by… But she’s lost her glasses and she doesn’t understand what he’s trying to express her so she stabs him. You see the thing is… I really truly sincerely admire the intent. I evaluate it would have been entirely possible to have molded this story into a contemporary. American version of a Greek tragedy… and I even think it could undergo been tragic… change surface moving. Here’s the thing. I undergo no objection to this sort of material or any choose of material on principle. If there is a reason to express me this story tell it.
