Boondock Saints- Great movie. I heard that there making another one with a larger budget than the first. Man Hunter- The movie which Red Dragon was a "remake" of. Equilibrium- Fucking gun martial arts. The Warriors- An old school gang movie it’s a good movie people should check it out. Once Were Warriors- Some movie from New Zealand. I saw it on sundance or something like that it was pretty good. Requiem for a Dream- A good movie. Lock. Stock,…… - Fuck this was a good movie it had dildo beatings desert eagles and all that fun shit. Glory- Saw it in U. S. History last year. Snatch- Another good Guy Ritchie movieRomper Stomper- A kinda good Neo Nazi film not as good as American History X though. Momento- I thought it was a really good movie. Brother- A yakuza movie which was bad ass. I have it on DVD but whenever it’s on HBO I still watch it. I highly recommend this movie to everyone.
The Red Violin: Great movie about the history of the red violin. Samuel L. Jackson said it’s one of the best movies he’s ever been in.
Twilight of the Cockroaches: Out of print now but it’s Japanese and mixes animation and live action. Basically a cockroach love/war story.
But I’m a Cheerleader: Christina Ricci is a cheerleader who’s parents think she is gay so they send her to get straight camp.
Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb: The freakiest Tom Thumb you will ever see. Stop motion clay figures. Things to do in Denver When your DeadDonnie DarkoRequiem for a dream (That is hard to believe)Waking Life.
also…True Romance and Carlito’s WayQuigley Down Under - featuring Tom Selleck - a great Australian set "western" where an American Cowboy is contracted to kill aboriginal peoples by cattlemen only to follow his conscience.
Heartbreak Ridge - Clint Eastwood and Mario Van Peebles star in a great Marine Corps flick focusing on a slacker Recon platoon prior to and during the invasion of Grenada. Funnier than hell and I don’t know alot of ppl who have seen it surprisingly.
Kentucky Fried Movie - pure cult movie… Silliness includes "Catholic High School Girls in Trouble" and a Bruce Lee parody.
And I so want to see Bubba Ho-tep but its not playing in my city can’t find a download for it either. Natasha Lyonne was in But I’m a Cheerleader. Not Christina Ricci.
And while we are on the topic of movies. I suggest that if you are into watching lots of movies like myself you check out the Blockbuster Movie Freedom Pass. Its definitly the best $25 a month that i’ve spent in a long time. You get to rent 2 movies at a time as many times as you want and keep them as long as you want. Meaning you can rent 2 movies take 1 back 3 hours later and get another movie and keep the second movie for a month if you want. Or just take both of them back a few hours later and get two more. Its fantastic. I’ve had it for 4 months now and i’m starting to run out of movies to watch. How about Bravo Two Zero. Stallingrad (German Version not US) or The Messanger with Milla JovovichAnyone ever see Surburbia? I thought it was great for an indie…Poolhall JunkiesSalton SeaThe Kentucky Fried MovieDonnie DarkoBoondock SaintsAmerican Psychothe name of it is ghumo it was featured in Belly… it is wacked out as hell12 monkeysrounderscatch me if you canbesides already mentionedWet Hot American SummerAmelieQuillsWaiting for Guffmanlove and a 45america mea bunch of others that have been listed Blood in Blood out : Bound by Honor
its awesome saw it in my foreign films class at school and it was just awesome. MadeRumble Fish (incredible cinematography)Fear of a Black Hat (guilty pleasure)State and MainA Mighty Wind
I think a lot of people missed the topic on "movies most people don’t know about". Seriously who has not heard of LOTR?the guy who directed "seven samurai" is probably the most influential director to ever walk the face of the planet his name is akira kurosawa his style has transcended the boundaries of oceans and film genres and has had an impact on everyone from scorcese to spielberg to kubrick everyone should definitely check out his movies some that i recommend would be — "ran," "throne of blood," "dreams…" etc. etc… so many good ones.
someone mentioned "love and a.45" earlier and i’d almost lost that movie from my memory…it’s great!!! definitely something that strikes a lil’ close to home if you grew up in a small town where there seemed to be a lot more going on behind the curtains.
i just saw "better luck tomorrow" the other day and although it may not be the most obscure movie i thought it was good for what it was….
check out these movies for crazy ultra violence with surprisingly great story and plot: "full time killer" (a chinese flick starring andy lau) and "shiri" (it’s a korean flick that broke all of korea’s box office records previously set by so many american films…it was a major gamble for the korean film industry to make something of that magnitude when considering many factors…it also alludes to much of the civil strife that plagues north and south korea…)
e ginger snaps crime + punishment in suburbia dazed and confused mulholland driveDoes anybody know what Aequitas means? Its on the hand of the guy in Boondock Saints the usual suspectsboiler roomfly me to polarisiron monkeymy sassy girlwonderful daysAequitas is latin for equality fairness or justice. I believe Veritas is also tattooed on someone in that movie. Veritas is latin for truth or truthfulness.
I’d also like to add Bottle Rocket to this list. Great movie with luke and owen wilson very much like Royal Tennenbaum type humor.
Thanks man…- Poolhall Junkies- Roger Dodger- Anti-Trust-Way Down TownThe Following- its by the same guy who did memento but before memento good flickshattered glasslife as a house
hayden christensen proves he IS a good actor despite what you may have seen in Attack of the Clones. Bubba Hotep. Seven Samurai. Yojimbo. Sanjuro. The Hidden Fortress (pretty much all good Kurosawa stuff). Amores Perros……………if you’ve seen and liked "21 Grams" go rent this movie. Same director and same type of idea as 21 Grams. I just thought this movie was better. Its a mexican movie with subtitles but its really good.
Both from 1973. Must have been a good year I thought the movie The Following was kind of cool…. and I liked Donnie Darkodonnie darko most people i know have never heard of it but i loved itand toy soldiers is pretty cool…the one with sean astin from the early 90s i think?
hey. when you say Acid House… is that based on the book by Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting) i’ll have to check that one out….
um my fave movies would have to be donnie darko haggard boondock saints and apocalypse now im sure most people have seen these but thats just my 2 cents if you havent seen them check them out then…. Donnie Darko NarcAkiraCentral Station (Brazil)Nueve Reinas (Argentina)
Dark City - Old but great. "Strangers" create a world where they can stop time and replace peoples memories with new ones while using their powers to change the structure of the city.
Donnie Darko - arguably my most favorite movie of all time. I’ve analyzed the shit out of it and will never turn down an oppurtunity to watch it again.
Dune/Children of Dune - the Sci-Fi versions not the David Lynch version. The Children series has a higher budget and you can tell but all are good.
Falcon and the Snowman - older movie staring Sean Penn. He plays a drug dealer who gets involved in selling secrets to the Russians during the Cold War.
Grave of the Fireflies - Animated film about 2 Japanese orphans during the American bombing of Japan during WW2. Very sad very powerful.
Heaven - Directed by Tom Twyker (Run Lola Run) and written by Krzysztof Kieslowski (Three Colors Trilogy). Kind of slow and it may take watching it a couple times to appreciate it.
Kung Pow! Enter the Fist - Steve Odekurk bought B-roll of an old kung fu movie inserted himself and other characters into the movie then redubbed all the voices himself and rewrote the story. Absolutly genius and incredibly hillarious regardless of what the critics say!
Mulholland Drive - awesome David Lynch film about a girl who suffers amnesia and ends up living with another woman while trying to discover her identity but its filled with lots of weird Dave Lynch like stuff. One of my favs.
Open Your Eyes - Spanish version of "Vanilla Sky". Came out before Cruise’s version. Pretty much the same thing. I think some parts of Vanilla Sky are copied directly from Open your Eyes.
Picnic at Hanging Rock - about a bunch of school girls in the 18 hundreds (maybe earlier?) who visit a sacred rock for a field trip. 4 of the girls go missing without any explanation. Pretty eerie.
Strange Days - New Years Eve 1999 and there is "wire tripping" which allows people to plug into a minidisk like machine that plugs into their cerebal cortex and allows the person to experience "playback" where they feel hear smell touch and sense everything that was recorded onto the disk.
The Tenant - a Roman Polanksi film about a man who moves into an apartment where the last tenant tried to kill herself. All the other tenants are basically crazy and all sorts of weird stuff goes on in the apartment building.
Three Colors (Red’s the best then Blue then White). 3 different stories with 3 different sets of characters but it all comes around at the end of the last film (Red). Amazing films.

to everybody who said Bubba Ho-Tep. I just watched the DVD tonight and it was surprisingly fucking awesome. Bruce Campbell of course is always teh cool and the atmosphere story. EVERYTHING was really well done.
But Seven Samurai? Everybody knows of that movie even if they haven’t seen it. Yojimbo and Sanjuro were also great but I’ve never seen Hidden Fortress. Oh and The Omega Man starring Charlton Heston. That’s the movie that was remade into 28 Days Later and also remade from The Last Man On Earth with Vincent Price.
I had only heard of it from the McKenzie Brothers movie clip from Strange Brew. "I was a one man force eh! Like Charlton Heston in Omega Man." Equilibrium
Infernal Affairs 2-i think this prequel is so much better than infernal affairs but u have to watch the first one to understand this prequel. =/

GOOD F**KIN’ MOVIE!!! i also gotta vouch for Frailty. The Girl Next Door. Requiem For A Dream. Road Trip. Euro Trip. American History X. Vanilla Sky. Butterfly Effect. Fear And Loathing…ummmm…if i think of anymore i’ll post them up…. PrimerThe Shape of Things
I’ve seen pretty much most of the movies mentioned here… good stuff In AmericaAmercian SplendorShattered GlassTriplets of Belleville (animation)ElephantSpartan
A japanese guys steals a bunch of cash and goes to australia to pick purchase a classic Citroen. He encounters a blind chick with the brains of the owner of the car on the ceiling along with the guys wife. The japanese guy and the chick end up together in the car for a good length of time.
It moves in such a way that you are carried along with the action not separated from the action by this big "movie". It has a fly on the wall feeling to it and it all fits together. Each scene well each shot really fits perfectly jigsawed in with those surrounding it. Very polished and precise. It seems to just naturally happen not forced. Even the frequent use of flashbacks came off as natural and easy.
Very funny independent Canadian film that shows what happens when four people make a bet to see who can stay the longest indoors. Since they all work in an office tower that is linked to malls other office towers and their apartment buildings by closed-in walkways this is easily done. The film begins on day 24 and the four are starting to show signs of cracking! All that lack of fresh air is taking its toll. I especially liked the main character. Tom who is having a hard time keeping everyone focused. What makes the film so funny is that we can all easily identify with the co-workers who share office space with these four. There’s a great scene where one of the four tries to have sex with a co-worker in a very narrow bathroom stall!
I got told to see this by some chick last night. I forget her name. Some excellent movies here! I’ve seen several listed already but here’s my additions or confirmations of ones that have already been listed.
Battle Royale (don’t get BR2 definitely not as good. I think) Primer (a good mindbending time travel movie) Man Bites Dog (a hitman with a following camera crew filmed in a documentary style) C’etat un Rendevous (not really a movie more like a 10 minute short of an uncut Ferrari race in Paris)Some already mentioned:
Ronin - another one for this not sure if it was the M5 and S8 and the chases but very enjoyableFear and Loathing in Las Vegas - does a great job of capturing the book fantastic madnessCidade de Deus - City of God very raw very well paced very wittyStrangelove - tremendously intelligent comedy
Control Room - documentary about Al-Jazeera shows the (intelligent) Arabic perspective on media biasThe Corporation - corporate greed irresponsibility etc…A Dirty Shame - so utterly irresponsibleThe Fog of War - subtitled "Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara" it’s a narrative from the very intelligent man who led many of the US wars this century. Very good. Les Invasions Barbares - translated "The Barbarian Invasions" good flick about dyingTibet: Cry of the Snow Lion - amazing documentary about the struggles of the Tibetan peopleDiarios de motocicleta - don’t know why more people haven’t seen "The Motorcycle Diaries" this Che flick is pretty good in an unpretentious waySexy Beast - stylishTalaye sorkh - "Turkish Gold". I’ve never seen a pathetic fat guy as likeable lead before. Complex movieNo Man’s Land - the best contemporary war movie I’ve seen. BittersweetLes Triplettes de Belleville - gorgeous animation in a style unlike anything you’ve seen beforeVozvrashcheniye - "The Return" a cold and heartless Russian movie. Amazing in an understated wayShe Hate Me - hilarious look at sexual taboosThe Way of the Gun - awesomely self-destructiveWhere do you guys get these movies - to rent or download? Rare movies are hard to find Shallow GraveNiagara NiagaraBottle RocketRopeDeathtrapDon’t Look Now
I came into the thread planning on recommending Picnic at Hanging Rock but someone already did. Great flick though. WalkaboutWages Of FearBrazilWithnail and I
I would also say Pi. I thought that movie was really cool although a lot of people don’t really "get" it the Boondock Saints
I love this movie and I could literally watch it for hours upon hours. Alighty. I’ll tap into the mighty resources of off-topic. I watched a french film last year about a boy who’s father leaves and he is befriended by the local shopkeeper. They end up traveling to Turkey where the old guy was born. Anyone remember the name of this movie? I liked it a lot. Goodbye Lenin a german film that came out earlier this year in theatres
I had to drag one of my friends to see it with me cause I didn’t want to see it aloneOk. I just saw a new (not new but new to me) one that was really good:
"Das Schreckliche Mädchen". In English. "The Nasty Girl". It’s a black and white German (obviously) film with English subtitles about a girl growing up in West Germany. She enters an essay contest with the topic. "My home town during the Third Reich" and sets out to document the heroes and resistance fighters in her town.
It turns out the stories about the local resistance were greatly exaggerated. She’s not allowed access to the town archives and people threaten her family kill her cat and dynamite her house to discourage her from trying to chase down the truth.
I had to watch it for my English class and ended up enjoying it. Dancer in the Dark Kissing Jessica Stein Boondock Saints Pumpkin Pieces of April
That’s the one with Vincent Price right? Remade as The Omega Man? I loved Omega Man and I loved the short story they were based on (I Am Legend by Richard Matheson) but I can’t find the Price movie anywhere. Lock Stock in Smoking Barrels is excellentIn AmericaY Tu Mama Tambienused to be Boondock Saints but now that’s really popular around here.
it was good but not great. But everyone should check it out if they have a chance. CubeHyper cubeseason 7 : something like that its about a game show where 7 people have to kill each other the last one standing gets like 2 million and the movie is filmed to look like a tv show does anyone know what i am talking about?Pi- The first movie from the man who directed Requiem For A Dream. I found it excellent though I didn’t care for Requiem very much.
Better Luck Tommorow - Excellent movie. I know the all Asian cast deterred a lot of people where I live from going to see it which is a shame. It could have been any race in the film because it really didn’t fact in and was excellent.
City of God - Interesting and true to life. The way it was shot used a lot of people who actually lived the content. Got nominated for a major award (I guess an Oscar though I can never keep track of which are which) for Cinematography(SP) but didn’t win.
Before Sunrise & Before Sunset- I’m sure they’re not widely known. This film is so beautifully shot so quiet and it really makes one appreacite both the beauty of Europe’s scenery and how much better it is to have a convesation with one person you find eternally interesting than with 100 people you hardly know.
Splendor in the Grass- Maybe this one is widely known. With Natalie Wood it’s a great look at how much we can be affected by standards. She more than deserved the Oscar for this and I’m glad she got it.
The Virgin Suicides- Great if you like all that psychological stuff and want to try and figure out exactly what the Lisbon sisters were thinking about…Oh even though I think it was already mentioned I believe I forgot to mention SLC Punk. Infernal Affairs
I think they are remaking it with Mrtin Scorcesse Directing itI don’t think many people have seen Confessions of a Dangerous mind but its amazin!best little known movie i know of is….. Lost Highway
Filmed in awesome 70mm wide this great piece of cinematography makes the world seem so big and small at the same time. I recommend it to those with an appreciation for documentaries. someone archive this shit. I have to watch all of these films. WAKING LIFE<—-Watch and be amazedNoi<—bad ass icelandic flicJacob’s Ladder<—-bad ass 80s flickExcalibar<— did i spell it right?
Gary Oldman directs this too-grim-to-actually-watch-in- one-sitting tale of an alcoholic wife beating child hating thug. Shot in a ‘fly-on-the-wall’ documentary style the horrific violence is often hidden by the sofa but the rage in Ray Winstone’s body as he stamps on his wifes face seems too shockingly real.
trivia: stars Supposedly based on Oldmans own childhood it stars his sister who can currently be seen badly acting the part of old ma Slater in sh*t brit soap ‘Eastenders’.

Pool hall Junkies is one of my favorite movies in fact one of my favorite movie quotes of all time is from that movie. The whole "if you play with bums your going to be a bum for your whole life" part. I forgot about that until you mentioned it. Great movie. Cube was also a good movie. I didn’t care for the end. I want to watch Cube 2: Hypercube or whatever it’s called but I heard bad things. But that didn’t stop me from watching other movies. Lolita - a Kubrick gem the remake wasn’t bad either–the sexual innuendos were more clear for our generation and the lolita character was developed better but the original had a much better story and more conflict tension and better performances. Tresspass (1992)Diecrted by Walter Hill starring Ice-T & Ice Cube playing ghetto bad-asses.
A modern buried treasure pirate tale with polt twist & turns powered by digi-cams & mobile phones plus all the usual things that such stories have

John Cleese wrote this movie as an excuse for him. Jamie Lee Curtis. Kevin Kline and Michael Palin to get back together because they had so much fun while filming A Fish Called Wanda. It got released the same weekend as the Star Wars Special Edition and got completely lost in the Star Wars hype.
The ending was a little weak but the interaction between the characters makes it worth the watch. Dead or Alive. Yakuza flick with an unbelieveable twist and I do mean unbelievable. In addition the Japanese versions of the American Imports (Dark Water. Grudge. The Ring ect.)
Others well… there is the film Kids which to be honest I have no idea how they were able to film it in the first place. Dazed and Confused. Fear and Lothing in Las Vegas. A Nightmare Before Christmas. Cry Baby and 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. Yes a musical but a good one. A Boy and His Dog
New and most people prolly won’t watch it but - Dust to Glory. Secret Things was a hot movie First half was entertaining and hot then it just got crazy stupid at the end.
quite honestly for some reason my life has changed after seeing this movie no other movie mattered for me after seeing it all the movies that recieved oscar praise were good in that they weren’t bad but they didn’t exceed in any way.
oldboy was directed by a relatively new korean director chan-wook park it’s the 2nd of a 3 part revenge series different stories different styles oldboy is by far the most stylish one (probably why i love it so much).
the english title of the first is called "sympathy for mr vengeance" the usa title for the third is "sympathy for lady vengeance" (international is "the kind ms geum-ja") which came out at the end of july played in the toronto and ny film festival it’ll get a limited release in feb (just like oldboy) and it should go to dvd as well like oldboy.
oldboy is getting the usa-remake treatment by a relatively knew asian-american director justin lin who’s known probably for Better Luck Tomorrow (about asian american teens) if you saw that and oldboy you’d wonder how he could stand up to the standards of chan-wook park’s style however justin lin just made annapolis with a more (american) recognizable cast.
the lead in oldboy min-sik choi is one serious actor i’d recommend one of his other movies. Failan it’s more of a drama but its about a gangster he also had a small part in a korean war movie. Taegukgi which unfortunately came STV in america as well.
another movie worth looking up is called My Sassy Girl a melodrama should definately see if you have an ounce of romance in you and hollywood must think it’s worth something since they’re remaking it as well. What the bleep do we know
Before Sunrise & Before Sunset- I’m sure they’re not widely known. This film is so beautifully shot so quiet and it really makes one appreacite both the beauty of Europe’s scenery and how much better it is to have a convesation with one person you find eternally interesting than with 100 people you hardly know.
21 grams- I can’t believe this movie didn’t blow up it is an amazing screenplay and Del Toro does an incredible job of acting as always. Some great impossible to find movies that I’ve seen:Convict 762 - amazingly bad movie with a completely incomprehensible plotOmega Doom - discussed previously in another threadEyes of the Werewolf - Purchased at WalMart. Has the single worst production values of any movie I’ve seen in my entire life. RapliGator - soft core porn/sci-fi/comedy film. Very dumb and very enjoyableI just recently saw Heights and Thumbsucker. I think thumbsucker won sundance this year and there were alots of big names were in the movie. Vince Vaughn. Keanu Reeves and Benjamin Bratt are just some.
all of these films were huge and made by big production companies they are really fucking commercial this is not to say that they aren’t good films cuz de is but i revert back to teh point that mos peeps is in da know bout em’ ya herrrrrtsotsi - southafrican gangland movie about a young thug named tsotsi wierd out and you might want to cry like a little bitch at the end possibly one of the greatest movies ive ever seen old boy - korean movie fuckin deadly twists and turns great cinematography great acting you wont know what the fucks goin on untill the endzatoichiichi the killercity of godrun lola runwith nail and ibubba ho tepthe original taxi not the new one which has that fat useless bitch queen latifa don’t know if someone mentioned it already but "Tombstone" was an awesome movie. I’ve only met one other person who has ever seen the movie. I really find that odd."My Favorite Year" from 1982 starring Peter O’Toole as an alcoholic aging movie star who guest stars on a variety show and Mark Lynn Baker as the young writer who idolizes him. Set in the 1950’s river’s edge with keanu reeves… great flick trippy.
The Thin Blue LineAftermath/Genesis best necrophilia movie ever makes me want to cry every time I see it no speaking throughout most (I think all) of the movie all set to opera music…perfectly executed and the best part is the coroner looks like Mr bean.
quite honestly for some reason my life has changed after seeing this movie no other movie mattered for me after seeing it all the movies that recieved oscar praise were good in that they weren’t bad but they didn’t exceed in any way.

If you liked Old Boy for it’s twisted plot then you’ll apprecaite Mr. Revenge. But if you’re expecting a tale about a "hero" kicking everyones ass then look elsewhere. Lady Vengeance seemed a bit slow for me. Personally. Lady > Oldboy > Mr.
I thought it had the best dark humor and style. But like Frank23 said it’s slower than the other two not really a fight sequence kind of movie. I OWN "Jawbreaker"
Oh and i’ve also seen Britney Spears’ "Crossroads"Der Siebente Kontinent (1989) [The Seventh Continent] astonishingly fucked up German movie. It’s the same discontent of American Beauty but with a very very different ending. The Game was a big budget film but I think it was a bit under appreciated. If you enjoy a good mind fuck then get it.
most people should know about this movie they played it like 6000 times on tv. The Firemen’s Ball it’s a comedy a bittersweet look at Communism. It’s probably a flawless 10/10 movie for anyone who grew up in that system it captures it pitch-perfect.
V for Vendetta. Top 5 best movie I’ve… seeenHere’s a list of the "250 Best Movies Made in the Last 30 years" that was featured on digg com.

I agree with the majority listed and found a few hopeful rentals. Hope this helps. I just don’t understand how some of the films wound up on the list especially T3!The Deer Hunter although i’m sure it was posted already seriously guys…
I’ll have to track those down. "Battle Royale" is an amazing Japanese film. Film is set in the not-so-distant dystopian future. Director has a style comparable to Kubrick."Divorce Italian Style" - a great black comedy. Also. "Fishing With John" a short-lived early-90’s TV show that’s well gonzo. John Laurie goes fishing / shoot the shit with people like Tom Waits. Willem Dafoe. Dennis Hopper. Highly recommended. I’d give it a 9/10… (and by the way. I hate fishing)
In one shark-fishing espisode after 3 hours of waiting for a shark using professional minced bait and large bait fish narrator notes that "they try a new approach"… cut to scene of gun-weilding Laurie instructing Jim to "just hold the cheese near the water as close as you can…"
World’s Fastest Indian. If you like anything that has an engine it’s a great flick. Even if you don’t it’s still damn good. Two great indie films I love (both with great casts) and would highly recommend would be Thumbsucker and The Squid & The Whale. Excellent films.
"Left Australia at 18. Has worked as an oil driller in India a cow herder in Israel and a doctor of Chinese medicine in Thailand. Spent three years traveling the world on a Norwegian ship. His Chinese is at a higher level than his English."BTW. Yardsale. I don’t know if you know about this site gorgeous hi-res wallpapers based on Criterion covers:
Yeah having The Rock and Armageddon there is just odd. There’s been 2 explanations I’ve heard neither of which are official:- They needed money. Criterion is a small company targeting a small market and perhaps they needed a quick cash injection at the time just in order to survive.- The collection is supposed to represent a variety of important movies. Blockbuster action movies are an important (if ‘dumb’) category so perhaps they should be represented.
Now. I don’t necessarily buy/agree with those reasons but whatever that’s only 2 out-of-place titles out of about 370 Criterions now.
I’m on a Criterion binge as well ever since I discovered last year that my university library has most of them. Seen 138 of them so far
That was a brilliant film - Loved it Escape from Sobibor. The story of the largest prisoner revolt and escape in any of the Nazi concentration camps. Starring Rutger Hauer and Alan Arkin. Half Nelson.
It’s really rather good. Unexpectedly good. (Even after all the indie hype it’s getting making a lot of the smaller best-of lists. I was still kind of skeptical about the movie’s basic premise. But it’s well done.) Catch in theaters while you can…
I went into it suspecting it of "dumb teen movie" but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I mean a lot of it is just two men in a bathroom doing lines of coke and having a heart-to-heart about who has the bigger sexual dysfunctions. Good stuff. And the parts where it is in danger of being cheesy-romance it’s saved by Jessica Biel being incredibly fucking gorgeous. Film that some of us don’t know yet.. ."
…directed by Nick Love which he based the screenplay on newspaper stories and anecdotes’hes been told from people all over the country.. The narrative will be fictional, but many of the incidents portayed will be based on facts…the story goes like this: A group of people who feel betrayed by their government and let down by their police force form a modern day outaw posse in order to right what they see as a wrong of the society…
satan’s little helper… nothing really spectacular about this movie…not the greatest acting or anything but i did find it quite entertaining for a few specific reasons
Home for the Holidays… another great holiday flick…All About Lily Chou Chou-a really vague meandering movie which manages to be absolutely brilliant and beautiful all the way through with a stunning original soudtrack
La Reine Margot-imo the best historical drama you’ll ever see revolves around the St Bartholemew’s Day Massacre in 16th century France. Virna Lisi is perfect as Catherine De Medicis.

Yeah. All About Lily Chou-Chou did have a really good soundtrack i don’t know if any of you are akira kurosawa fans or know anything by him besides Seven Samurai and possibly Rashōmon
but i’m a big fan of his film Throne of Blood which is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth if you’re fan of Macbeth catching the similarities and how the story is Japanese-ified is fuckin’ awesome thief
"tonight his take home pay is $410,000… tax free" Requiem for a DreamUnited States of LelandGarden State (I know lots of people who have seen it but I don’t think it really got the recognition it deserved particularly here in Australia)Revolver (Wasn’t even released in Aus in the Cinemas or DVD)Dr. StrangeloveMementoChasing Amy
(It’s funny how people mention the same movies over/over/over if you’ve seen 5 other people mention the movie you mention it’s not a movie no one’s seen especially Donnie Darko / Requiem for a Dream / Boondock Saints)
Almost everybody I know has heard of that movie. Sad thing was it didn’t get advertised that well when it came to the theaters. Long Island Cannibal MassacreThey Dont Cut The Grass AnymoreStory of RickyZombie DoomFrom BeyondJust got a copy of ‘Heart of Darkness: A Filmmakers Apocalypse,’ excellent excellent documentary. Had no idea all that shit happened with Apocalypse Now to be honest I saw the movie a few years ago before I really got into film and never thought that much about it. Very cool to see all that shit that was happening.
yes people post widely-seen movies every now and then in this thread and i feel that it is my duty to personally chastise them to encourage it to stop.
